So I went into this anime trying to get some romance between girls. I guess that is in there but because of the title people, like me, might not really see that there is a horror aspect. Let's just say that even having seen Elfen lied this anime gave me nightmares. :S little bird.

So you see the title Happy Sugar Life and the artwork above and you think it is some B-grade slice of life with some fanservice thrown in. And then the first episode starts. And then you know this will be good sheetz.
I didn't even know how to predict what happens next, what would be the right thing to do. It makes you sympathize with all characters, that things are like that because this is life, man. Sure it has some convenient coincidences like most stories, but somehow it doesn't feel too bad here; in fact it makes you curious, what would happen in those situations. Better stop here before too much spoilers.

Probably the best 2018 anime.
It's not perfect, in fact - quite the opposite. It's as broken and twisted as all of it's characters. And this is just perfect combination!

While there are tremendous differences between the two, both emphasize the yandere mindset in a very detailed manner. Mirai Nikki presents the absolute dedication and obsession of a yandere. Happy Sugar Life shows the motivation and purpose that could drive someone to become a yandere.
In a way this makes the differences a good thing, because if you feel like exploring a different side to a yandere, then the other series is a good one to find it.
