The first half of this season is all fun and laughs with the usual hijinx, with minor, but enjoyable, plots. The second part is the most epic battle arc this show has ever graced us with. It has amazing writing and character development, as well as high octane fight scenes. It was very much unexpected how good it actually was. Gintama is an amazing anime with an amazing cast of characters, full of fun and laughter, and sometimes even epic shounen battles and teary plot points. Everyone should watch Gintama, period.
