Daewon Donghwa was an animation studio headquartered in Yongsan District, Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 1977 by former of Universal Korea and entered into a partnership with Kikuchi Jouji was also seconded to Daewon and served as an instructor to the staff and as an animation director for episodes that the studio was in charge of.
Daewon's partnership with Toei ended in 1988 due to the rising costs of labour in Korea and the fact that Daewon had begun to undertake prime contract work. Subsequently, Toei formed a partnership with EEI and began outsourcing work to the Philippines.
In the year 2000, the company changed its name to Daewon C&A Holdings and expanded its business to the localization and distribution of Japanese multimedia IPs in South Korea.
